6 Tips for Ensuring a Smooth Admissions Experience
Before You Apply
Research the programs – TFAS offers Washington, D.C.-based programs each Summer. Each program includes a guaranteed internship placement, academic credit, housing (if applicable) and additional programming like guest lectures, site briefings, social events, career + industry exploration as well as mentoring and networking opportunities. The main differences between the programs are their size and lengths, amount of credits earned and program tracks offered.
- The Summer Program lasts 8 weeks and students can earn between 3-9 credits. With nearly 350 students enrolling each summer, this is our largest program. The Summer Program is broken up into five program tracks.
You can explore what makes each program unique, take a look at sample schedules, view class descriptions and syllabi, learn about internship placements. Don’t forget to check out the FAQ. If you still have questions, feel free to email us at admissions@tfas.org.
Aim for a deadline – Once you decide which program you are interested in, visit the Admissions Page to learn more about the application process and requirements. We have multiple deadlines for each program.
- Bonus Tip: The earlier you apply the better chance you have of securing a scholarship. Each year, TFAS awards more than $1 million in scholarships. The earlier you apply in the admissions cycle, the better chance you have of receiving a sizeable scholarship since the scholarship pot is larger.
Gather your application materials – Ensure that you have all the applicable application materials before you submit your online application. All materials (except your official transcript) can be uploaded to your online application. You must request your official transcript from your college or university. Many transcripts can be ordered online and be sent to TFAS electronically. Contact your registrar if you have questions about ordering a transcript. Please note that TFAS requires official transcripts from any college or university you’ve attended. The only exception is if past grades are listed on your current official transcript.
