Overview

This summer: June 6 – August 1, 2009

Approximately 135 undergraduate leaders attend the Engalitcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems (ICPES) in order to gain real-world experience in the nation’s capital interning on Capitol Hill, federal agencies, think tanks, political groups or international affairs organizations.

Academic study is focused on current public policy issues, political trends and the economics of the free market within two tracks – Public Policy or International Policy.

One of Washington’s top academic and internships programs, ICPES has provided undergraduates with the ultimate Washington, DC summer experience for more than forty years. A single application provides enrollment at Georgetown University, on-campus housing, and an eight week internship.

Part of the Institute experience, ICPES students attend exclusive briefings at various sites around Washington, including the White House complex, U.S. Capitol, the Federal Reserve, State Department and CIA Headquarters. Additionally, students attend the Judd Lecture Series featuring notable leaders and policy makers discussing today’s critical issues.

“The Fund for American Studies was a phenomenal experience that I will never forget, from the work experience, to the classes, to the friends I have made - this has been a life-altering summer. TFAS really wants you to succeed and takes very good care of all its students.”
