Social Activities

Students enjoying a Washington Nationals game

Throughout the semester, optional activities are planned to encourage students to socialize with other participants outside of the classroom, and to take advantage of the many attractions D.C. has to offer.

Past social activities have included:

  • A walking tour of the city's monuments and landmarks
  • Visits to the National Portrait Gallery and the Smithsonian Institutions
  • A trip Mount Vernon, George Washington's home
  • Sporting events such as a Washington Nationals baseball game and a Washington Wizards basketball game
  • Receptions and networking events
  • Attending a live taping of CNN's On the Story

“During my time in the program, I have also been able to establish friendships that I know will outlast my time in D.C. The caliber of students in the program was amazing; everyone was very intelligent and driven to excel. It was quite inspiring to be around such an impressive group of people."
